Tips for taking good photos of your pets

A great glass portrait starts with a clear, well-lit photo of your babies. The more pictures you can send, the better! If you have a specific picture that you would like me to use, even if it is not the greatest quality, I can use it as long as you also include other pictures that define your pets’ features. Take a look at Anna’s examples below to help you pick good photos of your pet(s) to send.

Low Quality Examples

  • This picture is dark, and Anna isn’t exactly in a flattering pose. Pictures like this do not help to show me how to create a mosaic of your pet.

  • This is a very cute picture, but again, it’s too dark. It is harder to pick out the right colors of glass if I don’t have a well lit picture.

  • This picture is very heavily edited, so it doesn’t clearly depict the detail of Anna’s fur and features, which makes the portrait more realistic.

  • In this picture, the reflective light doesn’t allow you to see Anna’s beautiful blue eyes. Plus, she doesn’t look too happy here. I would suggest a picture with better lighting, and maybe a better pose.

High Quality Examples

  • This picture may cover a lot of Anna’s body, but it showcases her facial features very well. This kind of picture is a good one to send with maybe another picture of your pet in a specific pose that you want, that may not be as good quality as this one.

  • This picture was done by a professional photographer and is an excellent quality picture. I’m not saying you need a professional photographer, but if you have any photos like this to send me it will make the mosaic process much easier.

  • This picture really showcases Anna’s beautiful blue eyes. Pictures like this make it easy for me to capture your pets’ personality in my mosaic.

  • You may recognize this picture, because it is the picture I used to make the mosaic in my logo! It is very clear, and conveniently Anna was in a very cute pose which made this the perfect picture to use.
